AI Lawyer
Privacy policy

Who we are
AI Lawyer (ailawyer.chat) is an AI chat that helps you prepare for consultations with a lawyer. For anything in this policy, contact privacy@ailawyer.chat.
What we collect
Account information: the details you provide when you create an account, such as your email address.
Your conversations and notes: the messages you write, the responses you receive, and the findings and questions you pin. This can include information about your legal situation that you choose to share. You decide what to write; the service works without real names or identifiers in the conversation itself.
Technical data: basic logs needed to run and secure the service, such as timestamps and error reports, and aggregate usage statistics that do not identify you.
How we use your information
To provide the service: storing your conversations and pinned notes so you can return to them, and generating responses to your messages.
To operate and improve AI Lawyer: understanding errors, keeping the service secure, and improving how it works. We do not read your conversations except when needed to investigate errors or abuse, or when you share them with support yourself.
We do not sell your personal data and we do not use it for advertising.
A note on privilege
Conversations with AI Lawyer are not protected by attorney-client privilege, because AI Lawyer is not your lawyer. What you discuss with your actual lawyer is a separate, protected conversation. Keep your notes here factual and save strategy discussions for your lawyer.
AI processing
AI Lawyer generates responses using large language models operated by third-party AI providers acting on our instructions. Your messages are sent to these providers to produce responses, under terms that do not permit them to use your data to train their models.
Where your data lives
Your data is stored with our service providers in the United States. If you use AI Lawyer from the European Economic Area or other regions, your data is transferred to the United States, protected by recognized safeguards such as standard contractual clauses with our providers.
Legal bases
Where the GDPR applies, we process your account and technical data to perform our contract with you, and your conversation content on the basis of your consent, which you can withdraw at any time by deleting your data or contacting us.
Sharing
We share data only with the service providers needed to run AI Lawyer: hosting, authentication, and AI processing, each bound by data processing agreements. A current list of providers is available on request at privacy@ailawyer.chat.
If you use AI Lawyer through a law firm pilot, your consultation notes are shared with the firm only when you choose to share them.
Retention and deletion
Your conversations and notes are kept so you can return to them for as long as you have an account. Technical logs are kept for a limited period and then deleted. You can request deletion of your account and all associated data at privacy@ailawyer.chat, and we will complete it within 30 days.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you have the right to access, correct, export, restrict, object to the processing of, and delete your personal data, and to complain to your data protection authority. Write to privacy@ailawyer.chat and we will respond.
Security
Data is encrypted in transit, access is limited to what operating the service requires, and we review access as the team and service grow. No internet service can promise perfect security; we aim to collect little and protect what we hold.
Children
AI Lawyer is not directed at children under 16.
Changes
When this policy changes materially, we will update this page and note the date at the top. Significant changes will be announced in the app.
